TTU Tutor Program

TTU Tutor ProgramIn addition to teaching mathematics, Iowa State University in Ames offers several other academic programs. One of these programs is the TTU Tutor Program. This program has been designed to give students who are thinking about taking a college-level math class an opportunity to meet with tutors.The TTU Tutor Program is offered in all undergraduate majors and in four associate degrees: Honors Thesis Teaching, Mathematics Interdisciplinary Thesis Teaching, Mathematics Thesis, and Theory and Methods in Mathematical Logic. Students can also enroll in the TTU Tutor Course for Independent Study. There are no prerequisites for this course. All it takes is a high school diploma.The Graduate Program is for those students who have earned a GED or who have completed an approved educational program that meets all of the requirements of the Public School Districts of Iowa. Students should be enrolled in an approved advanced course that satisfies all Iowa State University course re quirements.Graduate coursework includes the following areas: Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Education, Art and Design, Physical Science, and Chemistry. Students may choose to do work-based or online courses. Students should be aware that if they enroll in online classes that their workload will decrease considerably. Graduate courses allow for a large flexibility in class scheduling.The TTU Tutor Program is a hands-on environment in which tutors help students learn by allowing them to interact with a diverse array of real math tutors. The contact is based on homework assignments and office hours. Students are not able to see the tutor face to face. Students in the TTU Tutor Program will be responsible for submitting the assignments and the required text.Tutors are certified by the College Board. Tutors will assist students in preparing assignments, provide information and guidance on textbook choices, and provide mentoring and feedback to ensure that studen ts understand the concepts.An Important Detail - The TTU Tutor Program must meet all Iowa State University requirements. All students who successfully complete the TTU Tutor Program will be allowed to enroll in an academic program and awarded an Associate Degree in Mathematics. Online students are not allowed to pursue a baccalaureate degree through the TTU Tutor Program.
